Guns/Weapons are prohibited at the Flying V.
This space is SAFE! As a white/cis/het passing adult, I feel it is my duty to hold space open and available for the teens and young adults that feel marginalized in today's society. This is an absolute directive and violation will not be tolerated.
The safety and wellbeing of the teens and young adults at my facility is of the utmost importance. Security will be present at all shows in some capacity. Staffing will be made obvious with blue "V Staff" shirts/hats, yellow "security" hats, and even hi-vis vests if necessary under extreme circumstances.
A medic/first responder is employed at all metal shows, and will make the call to 911 if a head injury with possible concussion occurs.
Any government officer or agent requesting entry to the Flying V must present a SIGNED JUDICIAL WARRANT to Ms. V or Security Staff. This includes the entry area or even a foot in the doorframe. Entry will be denied and doors locked if the issue is pressed. In the event that doors are breached, guests may seek refuge in locked employee spaces. Security staff are dedicated to preventing the unlawful detainment and arrest of all attendees.
The only exception is ambulance staff responding to a medical call, or in the very rare instance police need to be called, in which case a member of staff will escort the officer or agent inside to the issue.
Founded in 2024, Flying V Music was inspired by the boys of Edison Metal, an afterschool rock band club at Thomas Edison High School in Minneapolis MN. After an outing in February to purchase amps and look at guitars only a week before an upcoming concert, Ms. V felt that something bigger was brewing. An original donation from her inheritance funded the first round of large purchases, including amp heads, Marshall cabinets, and 3 new guitars. The concert absolutely slayed, and Flying V Music was born. Funding is now provided by donations, benefit concerts, facility rental fees,and 100% is used to expand services for our musicians.
Flying V Music is a 501(c)3 company providing access to mentorship, rehearsal space, recording services, performance opportunities, and pro-quality instrument/equipment loans to young musicians who may not otherwise have access. Our students are required to make steady progress towards their high school graduation and good choices about their personal well-being. Upon graduation, they have choice to buy their loaned instruments/equipment at a reduced rate, and must also serve as mentors to the next group of students.
